Uwah! Where to start? I got the website stuff out of the way so now I can get to the really bloggy stuff. (Is bloggy a word? Oh well. It is now!) First off…
Took my darling youngest sister to the Rosicrucian Egyptian Museum for her birthday. The place was AWESOME! I’d never been before, but my sister has. It was that or Captain America. This was her choice and it was so cool. She enjoyed herself too. Click on the image to open the Flickr set to see more photos of our shenanigans.
Next…let’s see….on Friday, I got approved for an apartment! I’ll be moving in Labor Day weekend, so I’ll even get an extra day to start moving stuff in without work getting in the way. It’s a big step, especially since I haven’t had that much financial responsibility…ever, but it’s about time. I love living with my family, but it’s time to become a responsible adult.
We bought a mattress for the new place on Monday too. I know that a mattress can be a big expense, but it will be needed since I’ve been using my parents’ old queen as a bed and it will be too big for a one bedroom apartment. The apartment is a decent size (750 sq. ft.) but I’d rather have more space in the room for the dresser and such. The bed we got is soooo comfy and we wish we could be sleeping on it now, but we’re waiting on it so the guys delivering our mattress can move it to our new place instead versus us trying to move it in a few weeks. ;)
Also, in celebration of moving, we got some new glasses and shot glasses to use once we get into our new place. Thankfully, we won’t need to buy too much once we move. I’ve gotten my family’s old dishware they replaced about two years ago, a dresser, a bookshelf, a tv, a half shelf, sound system with speakers, a wireless airport, and a lamp. We’ll need some cookware stuff and possibly some more shelving things, but for now, it’s a good start.
Taking a veer away from the whole “adulthood” thing, we (as in myself, Erick, and my sisters) will be going to Comikaze Expo. This will be the con’s first year and MY first time going to a con’s first year. WHY am I going to Comikaze Expo? For one reason and one reason alone…because Elvira is going to be there. This means we won’t be going to YaoiCon due to finances, but I don’t feel that bummed. I’ve kind of been over YaoiCon after my 2nd year of attendance. It’s a fun con, but I’m over it already.
Comikaze Expo, on the other hand, sounds very promising. It’s like a comic book con, fantasy/sci-fi con, anime con, and a horror con all mixed together in one place. It has a good amount of well-known guests if you keep up with any of the above, so I’m really looking forward to it. I’ll be making three costumes, ironically none for me, but one for each of my partners in crime. If you’re going too, let me know!
I start my new job officially next week and I start working with children August 24th. I am so so so excited and very nervous at the same time. Luckily I’m very familiar will all of the people who work there, but I still feel like I’ll kind of be an outsider. Up until this past year at Kids Club, I felt that way, so I hope it’s not the same feeling. Overall though, I think the excitement outweighs the nervousness.
Finally but not least, Halloween is 81 days away! Oh my gosh! I’m excited. I know it’s early to be thinking about it, but you know what has me excited? That I’ll get to decorate! That is really exciting for me. I loved helping my mom decorate, and now I can use those skills to dress up my own place. ;) Halloween at my place! Woot! Slight bummer is that my place doesn’t have a front patio thing. It’s an enclosed spaced, but maybe I can decorate the back porch. ;) We’ll see when I actually move in what I can accomplish.
To top that off, I’ve tried applying to Halloween City. There will be one in the Hub soon where Borders used to be. I haven’t had a Halloween store so close to home in over two years. If I get the job, yay for extra money and possible Halloween stuff discounts. We’ll see. Either way, I’ll get to see stuff and get lots of ideas.
Well, that’s all for now! Hope to bring more about soon!
Cheers!
