Comikaze Expo is only two weeks away. I cannot wait for it! And so, in my excitement, I put together a video lat week expressing such. Enjoy!
What event(s) remaining in the 2012 year are you looking forward to?
Now, I’m not being interviewed being considered the real Elvira, but I’ve had a couple occurrences where I’ve been interviewed while dressed as Elvira. Although it’s not something I look for, it is most certainly an ego boost. ^^;
This interview is from last year’s Comikaze Expo. I think the thing that sticks out most in my mind when I think of this interview is that I honestly had no clue what is mask was from. (We were an Alien family, not Predator. Can you blame me?)
And honestly? Every time I watch this one, I go, “Oh my word. Look at that costume.”
I’d say it takes less confidence to wear it than it does to wear it and not care what other people are going to say. I won’t lie, it’s a racy costume. Very racy. And that’s one reason why I’ll never add co-workers to my facebook.
And since I have you watching videos anyways, interested in seeing my first one? Two interviews in one year, a break-through for my cosplay recognition. ^^; Nothing like Courtney’s rep, but that’s not why I wear my costumes. ;)
Our trip was super super fun and very very tiring. XD;; And I didn’t take as many pictures as last time. ^^; But still, it was a trip full of fun and amazing surprises!
…such as meeting Rico Rodriguez. XD Toats unexpected. And kind of gave me a high. ^^; He was super cool and it’s thanks to Erick that I even managed a photo with him. XDDDDD
I now officially have photos with three celebrities. :) How many people can say that? Well…I’m sure some people can, but it’s still super exciting to me.
Just to revisit…I met Elvira last November:
Oh, do the Chiodo Brothers count too? Because that would put me at four. :D They were in November as well.
And then last September we got pictures with Fluffy (Gabriel Iglesias).
So friends! What idol or celebrity have you gotten to meet that you’d love to boast about?
Just stumbled across this so I had to share. Especially in honor of finally purchasing our Comikaze Expo passes last night, it seemed appropriate. XD If you have ten minutes or so, it’s fun to watch through and always entertaining to see Cassandra and Stan Lee interacting together. It makes me so looking forward to Comikaze.
I think if I could only cosplay one costume for the rest of my life, it would be Elvira. I adore that costume and I love that every time I wear it, not only is it a huge hit, I’m constantly improving it.
This ambition first began during the Halloween season of 2010. With encouragement from Erick, I finally decided to pull off the epic awesomeness of the Mistress of the Dark (aside from height, I’m well equipped). First time wearing it was to my first self-hosted Halloween party dubbed “Movie Macabre”. The costume clearly needed more work. Then there was Halloween…
There were improvements, but still some work could be done. Especially with the feathered look in the wig’s appearance. ^^; Still, I felt sexy and awesome in her, so I decided to wear the costume for Fanime 2011. You can tell that the waves are slowly but surely dying, although still ever present.
The response to it was outrageous. I couldn’t believe it. And then to top it off, I ended up getting interviewed by someone doing Fanime coverage on awesome cosplays. *le gasp* You can check out that video here. This was so exciting. And then I got awesome news. The REAL Elvira, Mistress of the Dark, was going to be at a new up-and-coming convention called Comikaze Expo. You can imagine that I lept at that opportunity.
And it was AMAZING!!!!! I still get the fangirl giggles over it. Not only that, but I felt my costume was amazingly received by vendors and attendees alike. Elvira loved it so much she asked me to come take a picture with her behind her table! *squee*
Getting props from the vendors was very humbling. It was my first time ever walking through a convention where vendors would come out from behind their booths running after me asking for a picture. Attendees were lots of fun too. I think the most interesting request was a father wanting one with me and his baby.
Finally, my latest event came to Fanime 2012. Which, I regret to say, I have little to no photos of. Luckily, my rover friends are awesome and took some.
And you can tell the changes and improvements too. Although the photo doesn’t show it, I’ve upgraded to a bra with amazing support and anti-cleavage reveal. I’m finally getting a grasp on the wig with it’s straightness and proper bangs, although it may be coming soon time to replace the wig. It is old and rather tangled. The next event I’m looking forward to with donning the macabre queen is Comikaze Expo yet again. Hopefully I can yet again ham it up with Elvira. It’s a dream, but it’s one I can stil hope for. ;)
I think this costume is fun, especially because you can see the changes throughout the years. I hope I can continue to make it look better and better through the upcoming times. Wish me luck!
Did I every share my photos from my Elvira Photo Shoot I did with Erick? If not, check it out! Click on the photo to go to the Flickr gallery. (I keep bugging Erick to post the high-quality photos on his Flickr, but he hasn’t yet and I got tired of waiting)
I’d like to do another one, with more space and props, but this was a good go for both of us. It was excellent practice for Erick to work on his photography work and great practice for me to come up with poses on the spot/focus on thinking in the mindset of the character. We took about 160 photos, but unfortunately most of them were blurry due to the lack of lighting and I’m not the stillest of models. >.<;;; I need to work on that.
My photo-editing skills got some practice too due to the blurriness. Overall, I think I got a good pick of the batch. I’d like to go through it again to see if I could find some more photos I could fix up. Just haven’t had time to.
